Diabetes manifests itself when insulin produced in the body is unable to adequately metabolize the sugar in the blood, causing blood sugar levels to spike. In the case of Type 1, diabetes and gestational the ability of the pancreas to produce insulin is near absent. Type 2 diabetes accounts for 90% of all diabetes cases.

Type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle disease and making changes to your lifestyle will greatly help in reversing the disease. Lifestyle modification involves diet and exercise. While there is research that claims that just by modifying the lifestyle, a reversal of diabetes does occur but given the massive side effects of this disease, supporting these with medication is a strategy that is recommended by most mainstream diabetologists.

In the course of my research on natural solutions for diabetes, I observed that there are some herbs that also help in the reversal process. While Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine list close to 50 herbs possessing anti-diabetic properties, the maximum scientific evidence is available for the following plants:

Gymnema sylvestre, Trigonella foenum-graecum, Eugenia jambolana, Curcuma longa Atractylodes macrocephala, Codonopsis pilosula, Dioscorea opposita, Flos lonicerae, and Pueraria lobata. The first four plants are from Ayurveda and the following five are found in formulations of Chinese medicine.

The practice of Yoga, tai chi, qi gong also is scientifically supportive of diabetes reversal. My research also tells me that a vegan diet is also helpful for people suffering from diabetes. There are is a body of evidence that supports the claim that adopting a vegan diet leads to a complete reversal of type 2 diabetes.

This is a vast subject and for those who wish to look at the science of natural solutions for diabetes can take a look at the following indicative references:
