Let me share a couple of studies that provide differing indications on marijuana and Diabetes.
Marijuana use was independently associated with a lower prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus, commonly also called Type2 Diabetes. Further studies are needed to show the direct effect of marijuana on DM. (Rajavashisth, T.B. et al., 2012)
Marijuana use in young adulthood is associated with an increased risk of prediabetes by middle adulthood, but not with the development of Diabetes by this age. (Banks, M.P. et al., 2015)
The evidence supporting or against marijuana’s role in lowering blood sugar is not yet established. We should await more scientific evidence to arrive at a definitive science-backed conclusion.
