The scientific evidence in support of ginger uses in diabetes is very limited. The action of the ginger compounds was immune-modulatory, anti-tumorigenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, anti-hyperglycemic, anti-lipidemic, and anti-emetic. Antidiabetic and blood sugar reduction properties have been validated in experiments on rats. (Al-Amin et.al.,2006)

Oral powder of ginger has been found to reduce blood sugar in experiments on type 2 diabetic patients. (N.Khandouzi et al., 2015). However, there are no clinical trials conducted so far that will validate this property of ginger.

In my research on natural solutions for diabetes, I did not find validated support for using ginger as an antidiabetic herb in either Ayurveda or TCM literature. Herbal formulations of today for diabetes healing may contain ginger as one of their ingredients. The world of plants is vast, and we are still learning about their medicinal properties.

In India, a tea decoction with ginger, pepper, sugar, and milk is a common home remedy for relief from cold. Ginger tea is, however, not recommended for people who have dry coughs or suffer from dehydration. Ginger is said to possess expectorant properties and is also a digestive aid. Ginger tea is advised to prevent motion sickness. This tea helps reduce heartburn and calms an upset stomach and mind. It is recommended for cold and flu conditions and has anti-inflammatory properties.

The Chinese believe that spice can help neutralize poisons in food. Dioscorides also regarded ginger as an antidote to poison. In traditional Chinese medicine, ginger is prescribed to relieve arthritis-induced pain, discomfort from cramps, bloating during menstruation, and liver ailments. Ginger tea is used to improve circulation and flush out toxins and poisons from the body.

Chinese herbalists also say that spice is useful in preventing heart disease and gives a boost to the immune system. Ginger tea is regarded as an aphrodisiac. Drinking ginger tea daily is supposed to raise sperm mobility and count. Ginger tea is caffeine-free and is viewed as a healthy drink. Many medicinal uses as per traditional Chinese medicine are also recommended in Ayurveda.
