Modern medicine treatment of leukemia is a subject on which reams of information are available. Gene therapy is emerging as a possible solution to this form of cancer.

I will answer this question from the standpoint of natural solutions. Plants have an important role in disease prevention and cure. They possess immunity building chemicals that protect us from the disease. Diet and exercise are essential components of ancient medical systems like Ayurveda and Chinese medicine.

Ayurveda recommends that treatment should commence when the disease is at an early stage. It emphasizes on lifestyle, diet, procedures, and medication. It emphasizes further on rest, fasting, and reassurance.

Ayurveda stresses on aligning treatment with the personality of an individual. This aspect of treatment is called Sattva avajaya treatment (Sattva means “mind,” and avajaya means “bringing under control”). The effort of the physician is to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

The human personality, according to Ayurveda, is determined by not just the physiology but also the psychology of an individual. The brain, nervous system, hormonal secretion, and the individual’s personality all together make up an individual’s personality.

Yoga and pranayamas form an integral part of cancer therapy and are prescribed per the need and condition of the patient. There is an increasing body of scientific evidence that supports the complementary role of yoga and pranayama during the recovery stages of cancer.

I have analyzed 44 herbs that are claimed in Ayurveda and over a dozen herbs in use in Traditional Chinese medicine to possess anticancer properties. The most promising of the herbs are Astragalus membranaceous, Plumbago zeylanica, Wolfporia extensa, Andrographis paniculata, Curcuma longa, Tinospora cordifolia, Elephantopus scaber, Sesbania grandiflora, Premna herbacea, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Eugenia jambolana, Embelia ribes, Zingiber officinalis, Ricinus communis, Caesalpinia sappan, Symplococos racemosa, Nerium odorum, Annona muricata. and Phyllanthus niruri.

A formulation containing these herbs may have a role as a supporting therapy to modern medical treatment of cancer. Of course, trials need to be conducted to validate this analysis.
